New Delhi: SAR Geelani, a former professor of Zakir Hussain College, who was acquitted in the terror attack case on Indian Parliament has died in Delhi on Thursday. Heart attack has been attributed to the death of Professor Gilani. Geelani was doing workouts in the gym in the premises of the Nehru Place metro station when his condition suddenly worsened around 5 pm and he was rushed to the nearby Fortis Hospital for treatment. The doctors declared him dead.

Significantly, Professor Gilani Zakir Hussain used to teach Arabic language in college. Gilani was survived by his wife and two daughters. Gilani's name came to light in the terrorist attack on Indian Parliament on 13 December 2001. Gilani was arrested for the attack on Parliament and was kept in Tihar Jail for many years.

He was acquitted by the top court in this case that lasted for many years. After that, he also quit the job from Zakir Hussain College. According to family sources, Professor Gilani died in the evening on Thursday.
