Chitradurga: Amid a barrage of allegations and counter charges in the election season, Karnataka Congress took to the Election Commission to complain about a "mysterious" black trunk in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s chopper during a BJP rally in the state’s Chitradurga Lok Sabha constituency.  A purported video a big black trunk being hauled away from a helipad was uploaded on the official Twitter handle of KPCC president. The veracity of the video cannot be verified independently. KPCC President Dines Gundu Rao said “A mysterious box was unloaded from PM Modi’s helicopter at Chitradurga yesterday and loaded into a private Innova which quickly sped away. The Election Commission should enquire into what was in the box and to whom the vehicle belonged,”.

Here it is to be noted that the official twitter handle of CEO Karnataka was also tagged in the tweet by Rao. Although the video is being circulated on the internet for quite some time, KPCC levelled the accusations on Saturday while Modi was campaigning in coastal Karnataka and then addressed a massive rally in Bengaluru. Modi’s Mysuru visit comes at a time when Congress-JD(S) coalition is facing a deep divide on the ground in Mysuru, Tumakuru, Mandya and Hassan just ten days ahead of Lok Sabha elections. It is no secret that the two parties ran into a discord over the seat-sharing formula and especially Tumkuru –which Congress later ceded to JD(S). PM Modi, currently on a campaign trail in southern India, travelled to Karnataka’s Chitradurga for a public meeting Tuesday. He also addressed rallies in Mysruru on the same day.

However it is worth mention here that the elections in the state are being held in two phases on April 18 and April 23. On April 18, Lok Sabha elections will be held in Udupi Chikmagalur, Hassan, Dakshina Kannada, Chitradurga, Tumkur, Mandya, Mysore, Chamarajanagar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore North, Bangalore Central, Bangalore South, Chikkballapur, Kolar parliamentary seats. In Chikkodi, Belgaum, Bagalkot, Bijapur, Gulbarga, Raichur, Bidar, Koppal, Bellary, Haveri, Dharwad, Uttara Kannada, Davanagere, Shimoga, polling will be conducted on April 23.
