New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked Congress in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. He said the party focused on "polarisation" until 2014, while his government focused on "satisfaction."

Speaking during the Motion of Thanks, Modi said that in 2014, the country got a new model of governance. This model prioritized satisfaction instead of division. "Congress's model is 'family first'," he stated.

His speech came two days after he responded to the same motion in the Lok Sabha. Modi criticized Rahul Gandhi, saying some people are speaking the language of urban naxals. He added that those who oppose the Indian State cannot understand the Constitution or national unity.

Taking a swipe at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, he said, "Some parties are like 'AAP-da' (disaster) for the future of the youth." He also claimed that his government saved money through its schemes, unlike others who built "Sheesh Mahals" (glass palaces).

Modi then attacked Gandhi again. He said some people visit poor people's huts for photos but find discussions about poverty in Parliament boring. He also criticized Congress for forcing Muslim women to live in hardship.  Modi said - We brought triple-talaq regulation to give them rights........

The Prime Minister also spoke about the President’s address. He called it inspiring, effective, and a guide for the future. He noted that both ruling and opposition MPs shared their views on the speech.

Here are some of Modi’s key statements:

  • "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas is our duty. That is why people chose us."
  • "Congress follows the model of ‘family first,’ not national development."
  • "Expecting Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas from Congress is a mistake. Their party exists only for one family."
  • "The people have tested and supported our development model. Our focus is 'nation first'."
  • "During Congress rule, appeasement was the core of their politics."

At the beginning of the parliament, Opposition Members protested over the deportation of 104 Indian migrants from the United States. They wore "handcuffs" during the protest to highlight the harsh treatment the deportees reportedly faced.

The protest caused heavy disruption in Parliament, leading to calls for a discussion on the matter. As the proceedings resumed, opposition MPs raised the issue of the deportations. They demanded that the government take action. In the Lok Sabha, MPs shouted slogans and gathered in the well of the House, in spite of Speaker Om Birla's request for calm.
