NEW DELHI: By 3 PM on Wednesday, the voter turnout in Delhi’s assembly elections reached 46.55 percent, as per the Election Commission of India.
The North-East district had the highest turnout at 52.73 percent., while the New Delhi district had the lowest at 43.10 percent. The Central district followed closely with a turnout of 43.45 percent..
Other districts showed the following turnouts: South West (48.32 percent.), East (47.09 percent.), North (46.31 percent.), North West (46.81 percent.), Shahdara (49.58 percent.), South (44.89 percent.), South East (43.91 percent.), and West (45.06 percent.).
In the ongoing bypolls, Milkipur assembly in Uttar Pradesh recorded a 57.13 percent. turnout, and Erode (East) in Tamil Nadu recorded a turnout of 53.63 percent, both as of 3.00-PM.
Polling began at 7.00 AM for Delhi’s 70 assembly seats and bypolls for two seats, one in Uttar Pradesh and one in Tamil Nadu. Voting will continue till 6.00 PM with tight security at all polling locations.
Meanwhile, the North Delhi District Election Office dismissed claims of voter force at the Sainik Vihar polling station in Shakur Basti. The complaint alleged that a police officer pressured a voter to support a particular political party.Â
After the complaint, a Flying Squad was sent to investigate. The inquiry saw that voters cast their ballots freely, without any outside influence. The controversy started when Aam Aadmi posted a video accusing the Delhi police of hijacking the election.Â
The counting of the will be taken place on February 8th.

The main battle is between Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), aiming for a third straight win, and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), hoping to reclaim power. The Congress, once dominant in Delhi, is also contesting but is fighting hard to avoid another poor performance.
Regulations Governing Exit Polls in India on Delhi Election:
The publication and conduct of exit polls in India are strictly controlled under Section-126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. The regulation prohibits the dissemination of exit poll results by any electronic or print media between the start of polling in the first phase and half an hour after the conclusion of polling in the final phase.
