New Delhi: A day after Telangana Congress leader Vijayashanti stoked a controversy comparing Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a terrorist, Congress Rajya Sabha member Renuka Chowdhury termed the comment as "regrettable" saying that the kind of language used should not have been used for an incumbent Prime Minister. Renuka was quoted as "I wasn't there&I didn't hear what she said but if it's true, I'm sorry. It's regrettable bcos I don't think that's the language we should use for a PM whoever he is, we may not like him but we don't talk in that fashion,".

It is to be noted that actor-turned-politician Vijayashanti, while speaking at a public gathering on Saturday, had termed Prime Minister Modi as "terrorist". “Everyone is scared that at what moment Modi will shoot the bomb. He looks like a terrorist. Instead of loving people, he is scaring people. It’s not the way how a PM should be,” she said.

Notably, Vijayashanti made the remarks in presence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi who had come to Shamshabad to launch the party's poll campaign in the state. Interestingly, last year around the same time, PM Modi and Renuka Chowdhury had traded barbs over Aadhar scheme. During a discussion on Aadhar, when PM Modi was speaking in the Parliament, Renuka broke into laughter at the PM's claim the idea of Aadhaar was conceptualised during the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government.

However, to this, as chairman Venkaiah Naidu warned Chowdhury over her behaviour, PM Modi asked Naidu to not stop Renuka saying "Ever since seeing Ramayana serial, for the first time I have got an opportunity to see such a laughter.”  Outside the parliament, Renuka had accused the PM of making "anti-woman" remarks saying "if something similar was said outside the parliament, there would have been a case against him."
