The Congress party has announced its fourth list of candidates for the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, which are set for October 5. The results will be declared on October 8. This new list includes seven candidates, bringing the party's total to date to 25.
Parimal Pari will contest from Ambala Cantt, challenging BJP's Anil Vij. Other notable candidates include Sachin Kundu in Panipat Rural, Satbir Dublain in Narwana (SC), Sarva Mitra Kamboj in Rania, and Rohit Nagar in Tigaon. Additionally, Naresh Selwal will run from Uklana and Jasbir Singh (Jessi Petwar) from Narnaund.
Previously, Congress had announced its third list of candidates, featuring Chander Mohan from Panchkula, Nirmal Singh from Ambala, Pooja Chaudhary from Maulana, Akram Khan from Jagadhri, Rahul Makkar from Hansi, Manisha Sangwan from Dadri, Jagdish Yadav from Kosli, and Lakhan Kumar Singhla from Faridabad. Other candidates from this list include Ashok Arora for Thanesar, Kuldeep Sharma for Ganaur, Brijendra Singh for Uchana Kalan, and Paramvir Singh for Tohana. Anirudh Chaudhary is set to run from Tosham, Balram Dangi from Meham, Manju Choudhary from Nangal Chaudhary, Vardhan Yadav from Badshahpur, and Mohit Grover from Gurugram.
In related news, Vinesh Phogat, a former wrestler and Congress candidate for the Julana Assembly seat, recently filed her nomination papers. Phogat, who joined Congress on September 6 with fellow Olympic wrestler Bajrang Punia, was joined by Congress MP Deepender Hooda and other party leaders during the filing. She expressed her gratitude to the people of Julana and emphasized her commitment to the welfare of all citizens. "It is a privilege to step into politics," Phogat said, acknowledging the support and affection she has received.
Phogat will compete against BJP's Captain Yogesh Bairagi in Julana, who also submitted his nomination on the same day. The Haryana Assembly elections will take place on October 5, with the nomination deadline set for September 12. The BJP secured 40 seats in the 2019 elections, while Congress won 30 seats.
