New Delhi: After Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's remarks about 'Shakti' sparked controversy, the Congress has rallied behind him. Congress leader Pawan Khera indirectly criticized the BJP, stating that the country will now be governed by "divine power" rather than "demonic power".

In a social media post, Khera questioned the BJP's silence when women were subjected to appalling treatment in Manipur. He also highlighted instances where he alleged the BJP supported perpetrators of heinous crimes against women. Khera emphasized that the upcoming election would be a battle between divine and demonic powers, predicting victory for the former, including Rahul Gandhi, the INDIA bloc, youth, and farmers.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi responded to Rahul Gandhi's remarks on 'Shakti', expressing his reverence for women as embodiments of strength. He rejected claims that the ruling party aimed to suppress 'Shakti', asserting his commitment to empowering women. PM Modi also pledged to defend 'Shakti' and Bharat Mata.

Rahul Gandhi's comments, made during an event in Maharashtra, raised concerns about the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines and the alleged dominance of the state. He accused the government of compromising the autonomy of institutions like the ED, CBI, and Income Tax department.

The exchange underscores the political rhetoric surrounding notions of power and governance ahead of the upcoming elections.
