NEW DELHI: Congress party on February 22 termed External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar a "failed" foreign minister alleging that in spite of  being the longest-serving Diplomat in China, he has failed on every front.

Supriya Shrinate, a party spokesperson, said in a statement at a press conference held in New Delhi: "On the issue of Chinese incursions, there is silence from the EAM and has he advised the Prime Minister to say that no one has intruded Indian territory when 2,000 sq km of the Indian territory have been intruded by China." The leader of the Congress claimed that China is constructing bridges, railroads, and roadways in the occupied territories.

Trade between India and China is growing, and in a sense, India is helping to support the Chinese PLA. "Due to the PM's silence in every meeting, PLA insists they have not invaded any land," she said.

Shrinate called EAM Jaishankar's claim that India can't go up against larger economies since it has a smaller economy "blasphemous" and criticised it.
She said that despite Biden almost finishing his first half of his time as President, the US Ambassador to India is absent, accusing the Foreign Minister of failing India's foreign policy.

When the government claimed that there was a global plot against India, the spokesperson for the Congress questioned "what is Mr. Jaishankar and his department doing."

Meanwhile, Jaishankar recently claimed that his father, Dr. K. Subrahmanyam, was replaced as the Cabinet Secretary during the Rajiv Gandhi era by someone younger than him after former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi promptly fired him from his position as Secretary of Defense Production in 1980.
