NEW DELHI: The Minister of External Affairs Dr S Jaishankar called on Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese today, February 18, and held discussions on a range of topis, including bilateral strategic partnership, economic opportunities, people-to-people ties and cricket.

Jaishankar, who arrived from Fiji, also sent his Australian counterpart a personal greeting from Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"It was a pleasure to speak with Australian Prime Minister @AlboMP this morning at Kirribilli House in Sydney. I sent my personal greetings from Prime Minister @narendramodi. Our conversations were a true reflection of our strategic cooperation. AlboMP informed of current developments in the area," he tweeted.

'It was wonderful to meet with DrSJaishankar this morning ahead of my trip to India next month. We discussed our strategic partnership, economic opportunities and the people-to-people relationsa that enrich our nations,'' Australian Premier Albanese tweeted.
Jaishankar also met with Australia's Minister for Foreign Affairs Penny Wong and Minister for Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen.

Jaishankar previously spoke at the Sydney Business Breakfast event, where he emphasised the need for like-minded nations to collaborate in order "to derisk economy," meet the difficulties of the digital age, and forge relationships that act as economic stabilisers.
Australia and India are moving forward. Our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership establishes the groundwork for our bilateral relationship, and the ECTA will provide it a boost. He felt that his regular contacts were helpful.
India and Australia are forming an important cooperation in a changing global environment, and the contributions of all stakeholders are valued, he said.

Jaishankar said transformational governance changes underway in India are showing results. A strong digital backbone was paving the way for efficient and effective delivery.

A bullish economic backdrop and a favourable investment atmosphere are present in India now as a result of choices made during trying circumstances. Since February of last year, Jaishankar has made three trips to Australia. He travelled to Melbourne last year to take part in the meeting of the four foreign ministers. As part of the 13th India-Australia Foreign Ministers' Framework Discussion, he also visited Australia in October (FMFD).
