Recently, American billionaire George Soros attacked Prime Minister Modi on the Adani issue. Since then he has been in the news. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar's statement has now come regarding this. He said here that Soros is an old, opinionated man sitting in New York who still thinks that his views will determine how the whole world works. Such people really put their resources into creating stories. People like him think that elections are good if the person they want to see wins and if the election results in something else they will say that it is a bad democracy. This is done on the pretext of advocacy.
Mr. Jaishankar further stated today in Sydney, "When I consider my own democracy, I see that it currently has an unparalleled voter turnout, decisive election results, and an uncontested election process. We don't live in one of those nations where people resort to court to settle disputes after elections."
Let us tell you that Soros had said about Adani issue, Modi is calm on this issue. He will have to answer questions from foreign investors and in Parliament. Soros was speaking at the Munich Security Conference. He stated that this would greatly weaken Modi's grip on India's federal government and open the door to pursuing much needed institutional reforms. He had said, I hope there will be a democratic transition in India.
