Amritsar: State Congress unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu has been dealt a major blow by the high command ahead of punjab assembly elections. In fact, sidhu, who was considering himself a strong contender for the CM post for the 2022 assembly elections, has lost his hopes as the party high command has decided not to declare the CM face in Punjab.

According to reports, the Congress high command has conveyed its strategy to the Punjab unit saying that the election will be fought under collective leadership to create a grip among voters of all religions and castes in Punjab. The Congress high command also said that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be fielded as Jat leader, CM Charanjeet Singh Channi as Dalit face and Sunil Jakhar as Hindu face in the election riots.  Sidhu, who had objected to Charanjeet Channi being given the CM post, has been projecting himself as the chief ministerial candidate for the 2022 assembly elections for the past several days.

Sidhu usually begins his public address by saying, 'I did it and I will do it next. On this, a veteran Congress leader says he uses 'I' instead of 'Hum'. His speeches do not show team spirit. "Sidhu openly declared Ashwani Shekhadi as the party's candidate in Sultanpur Lodhi and Navtej Cheema as party candidates in Batala. What is the point of announcing election committees when tickets are distributed in this way?'
