Chennai: Congress party workers attacked Photo journalists and media personnel working for a weekly Tamil magazine for clicking pictures of empty chairs in Tamil Nadu at a public meeting called by the state Congress.The video of the incident is going viral on the internet.

In video, party workers can be seen brutally assaulting journalists and snatching their cameras away. When other media personnel tried to intervene they were also manhandled. Later, the police had to intervene.

Tamil Nadu Congress president and party candidate for Virudhunagar Lok Sabha constituency KS Alagiri, B Manickam Tagore and DMK MLA Thangam Thennarasu were also present but no one from the party came forward to stop the workers from attacking the journalists.

The injured scribe was rushed to a private hospital in Tagore’s vehicle where he is undergoing treatment.

Chennai press club urged the cops to take action against the attackers.

Earlier, in an aother incident Congress president Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had attended to journalists who were wounded during roadshows. This act by the brother-sister duo was praised by the netizens.
