Cong demands 33% reservation for women but gives 7% only in CWC

New Delhi [India], July 18 (NT): Congress gave his unconditional support to women's quota bill but has just 7 women in new Congress Working Committee list which has been released.

Worth mention here only seven women leaders have been provided place out of the 51-member list in the new Congress Working Committee (CWC), which is led by Gandhi scion Rahul Gandhi.

 As per the sources it is learnt that Members of Parliament, Ambika Soni and Kumari Selja have been nominated as members in the reformed CWC.  In this new list 3 times Delhi Chief Minister Sheela Dixit, Rajni Patil, Asha Kumari have been placed as permanent invitees.

 On the other hand Congress MP from Silchar Constituency of Assam has been nominated as a special invitee for Chief of Mahila Congress.

It is noted that the Congress had been pitching for 33% reservation for women in the parliament under the Women Reservation Bill but in its own working committee it gave only 15 % quota to women.

Interestingly Senior Congress leaders Digvijaya Singh, Kamal Nath, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Mohan Prakash, CP Joshi and Shashi Tharoor have not been placed in the new CWC.

According reports of ANI The new CWC places 23 members, 19 permanent invitees, and nine special invitees.

The members who include in new CWC are Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Dr Manmohan Singh, Motilal Vora, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjun Kharge, AK Antony, Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, Oommen Chandy, Tarun Gogoi, Siddaramaiah, Anand Sharma, Harish Rawat, Kumari Selja, Mukul Wasnik, Avinash Pande, KC Venugopal, Dipak Babaria, Tamradhwaj Sahu, Raghuveer Meena, Gaikhangam and Ashok Gehlot.
