Paresh Rawal is one of the most loved actors turned politician in Bollywood. The actor enjoyed a massive fan following but his recent statement sparked controversy and he was brutally criticized for his statement. Paresh Rawal while campaigning for the ruling BJP in the city of Valsad in poll-bound Gujarat. claimed that the people of Gujarat can still tolerate inflation but not "Bangladeshis and Rohingyas" living next door. 

In the rally, Paresh Rawal said, "Bangladeshis and Rohingya" next door and used a "cooking fish" stereotype that has incensed Bengalis. Responding to a huge backlash, he apologized today but made it worse. He said, "Gas cylinders are expensive, but their price will come down. People will get employment too. But what will happen if Rohingya migrants and Bangladeshis start living around you, like in Delhi?

 He further asked, “What will you do with gas cylinders? Cook fish for the Bengalis?" Gujarat people can tolerate inflation but not this ... The way they deliver verbal abuses. A person among them needs to wear diaper on his mouth." As soon as it catches the eyes of people they started commenting on it. Various people started commenting on it. His speech was labelled by many as "hate speech" aimed at Bengalis.

After this Paresh Rawal wrote an apology post but ended up aggravating the row by claiming that he meant "illegal Bangladeshis and Rohingya" when he used the word "Bengalis". He wrote, "Of course the fish is not the issue as Gujaratis do cook and eat fish. But let me clarify - by Bengali I meant illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya. But still if I have hurt your feelings and sentiments, I do apologize."
