A Melbourne street party labelled as "outrageous" by residents has reportedly been broken up by police as patience wears thin with the city's sixth lockdown. A Melbourne street party, reportedly 200 people strong, has been shut down by police. Locals labelled the event, which saw people buying beer from local vendors, crowding together and listening to DJs, as “outrageous”. 

Pictures showed few masks and little social distancing at the party in the inner north suburb of Northcote. Victoria saw 25 new cases of Covid-19 today but the situation is grimmer in NSW where 415 daily infections occurred. State premier Gladys Berejiklian has said it’s now “near impossible” for NSW to get back to zero cases.

 “It’s not possible to eliminate it completely. We have to learn to live with it. But the best chance we have to live with it freely and safely is to get the case numbers down as low as possible.” Half a million extra Pfizer jabs will head to Sydney’s west, the epicentre of the outbreak, after the Federal Government secured one million jabs from Poland.
