New Delhi: There is an atmosphere of concern across the country over the possible third wave of the corona. On the other hand, parents of newborns are worried about their care. Mothers who breastfeed have a question in mind whether they can breastfeed their baby even after they are infected with the coronavirus.

Dr. Manju Puri, Head (HOD), Department of Obstetrics and Women's Diseases at Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, informed that a mother can continue breastfeeding for her baby even after being infected. However, they will also have to take a lot of precautions. Dr. Manju Puri said that women should distance themselves enough from their babies after feeding. On the other hand, talking about corona vaccine myths, he said that the vaccine does not affect our reproduction part or cause infertility. The vaccine against corona just helps the body to increase immunity against a virus, it does not affect any other tissue of the body.

Dr. Manju Puri said that those who have reported corona negative can also help in breastfeeding newborns. However, it is very important to follow rules like washing hands, wearing masks, face shields before breastfeeding. At the same time, it is mandatory to clean the surroundings thoroughly.
