In the wake of the Coronavirus on Friday, the government has decided to continue the bus service on select routes in the state, amending the decision to ban public and private buses and public transport in Punjab. With this, the maximum capacity of less than 12 passengers and the motor cab has also been exempted.

For your information, let us tell you that in the meeting of the Group of Ministers on Thursday, it was decided to stop all public traffic, including all state carriage, contract carriage buses, auto rickshaws and e-rickshaws. But taking stock of the situation on Friday, the Group of Ministers allowed the Transport Department to run buses of PRTC / Panbus / Punjab Roadways on special routes for public facilities. Transport Minister Razia Sultana gave this information in a statement.

Regarding this virus, he told that this ban will be implemented from midnight on Friday and will remain till 31 March. This restriction also includes contract buses with State Carriage which come from outside Punjab. However, in the event of an emergency the concerned Deputy Commissioners and the State Transport Commissioner have the right to exempt any public vehicle from this order. He clarified that this restriction is not on goods carriers and private service vehicles such as factories, staff buses etc.
