Epidemic Corona has stalled business all over the world, but in Kolkata, the name of Corona has been doing business since the 60s. Corona is not just a virus in Kolkata, but also a big brand. There is not one, but three pet stores by the name of Corona, where all the necessary items of pet dogs and cats are found under one roof. Their medicines and vaccines are also available.

In his statement, 28-year-old Vikramjit Chattopadhyay, the manager of 'Corona' told- 'In 1957 a man named Sanat Kumar Basu Roy started a sports goods store named' Meerut Sports' in New Market area. In 1960 his son Ram Krishna Basu Roy changed the store name to 'Corona'. At that time Corona was a big brand of golf bags and it was supplied from this store across the country. Some accessories of pet dogs and cats were also available in Meerut Sports.

After the death of Ramakrishna Basu Roy in 1979, his elder son Uday Krishna Basu Roy took over the responsibility of the store. After Uday Krishna went abroad for some time, his younger brother Kumar Krishna Basu Roy took over the responsibility of the store. The nature of the business also changed under the leadership of Kumar Krishna. From the sports goods store, it was completely transformed into a pet store and gradually Corona took the form of a brand. Today it is the oldest and leading brand of pet dog-cat essentials in Eastern India including Kolkata. Today Corona's client list includes Army, Para Military Force, BSF, RPF, CISF, Kolkata Police etc. Pet dog-cat foods and supplements, grooming items, training equipment, toys, dress etc. are available here.
