In the midst of growing Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra, the health department has claimed that 11 percent of the total cases in the state are related to people below the age of 20 years. Their participation in deaths due to corona epidemic is 0.5 percent.

Out of 5.95 lakh cases of Covid-19 infection in Maharashtra (including both active and fine / discharged cases), 66,000 are children and youth up to the age of 20 years. On the other hand, according to the calculations made by the state government till August 16, out of the total 19,830 corona deaths in the state, only 99 are children or adolescents below 18 years of age. Of these, people above 60 years of age have 52 percent participation in those who die.

After the arrival of 11,119 new cases of coronavirus positive in Maharashtra on Tuesday, the total number of infected people has increased to 6,15,477. After the death of 422 patients of Corona, the number of dead has increased to 20,687. The official said that the total number of people who have been cured after 9,356 patients were discharged from the hospital has increased to 4,37,870.

He said that 1,56,608 people are still infected with the virus in the state, while 931 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Mumbai, which increased the number of infected to 1,30,410 on Tuesday. This information was given by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). BMC said that with the death of 49 more patients, the number of deceased increased to 7,219. BMC also said that 40 of those who lost their lives due to infection also had other diseases.
