On Tuesday, China said it was planning to send flights to bring back its students, tourists and businessmen stranded in India due to the Coronavirus epidemic. A spokesman for the Chinese embassy said that the decision has been taken to provide assistance to the stranded civilians abroad.

In his statement, further Chinese Embassy spokesman Ji Rong said that in view of the epidemic situation in India, China is planning to send temporary flights to India and return its citizens including students and tourists. In response to a question, he said, the Chinese government attaches great importance to the health and safety of overseas Chinese citizens. The decision to evacuate Chinese citizens is being taken at a time when India has joined the 10 countries of the world worst affected by the coronavirus.

The cases of coronavirus are increasing in India. The coronavirus originated in December from Wuhan, China. More than 5.5 million people have been infected with this virus worldwide and more than 3.5 lakh people have lost their lives. Under the second phase of Vande Bharat Mission, the government is planning to bring back one lakh citizens trapped in 60 countries. Officials gave this information on Tuesday. The second phase of the mission was first to end on 22 May. However, the government extended it till 13 June. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar held a meeting with all agencies and ministries involved in this massive campaign on Tuesday. He tweeted that the purpose of the meeting was to expand the Vande Bharat Mission and increase its capacity. The second phase of the mission started on 17 May.
