New Delhi: India's coronavirus tally rose to 4,46,42,742 with 1,994 new infections, while the number of active cases dropped to 23,432, according to the Union Health Ministry data. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am on Sunday, the death toll in the country has increased to 5,28,961 after four more people died due to infection. On the other hand, the Health Ministry said that the number of active cases is 0.05 per cent of the total infected, while the national recovery rate is 98.76 per cent.
In fact, in the last 24 hours, 611 people have been reported to have recovered from the infection. With this, the daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.24 per cent, according to the Health Ministry. The weekly positivity rate stood at 0.99 per cent. Besides, the number of people who have recuperated from the infection surged to 4,40,90,349 while the case fatality rate has been recorded at 1.18 per cent. According to the ministry, 219.55 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive. However, you must be aware that the number of coronavirus infections in the country had crossed 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 2020, and 40 lakh on September 5, 2020.
It went past 50 lakh on September 16, 2020, 60 lakh on September 28, 2020, 70 lakh on October 11, 2020, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 2020, and surpassed 90 lakh on November 20. Not only this, but on December 19, 2020, the number of infected in the country crossed one crore. In fact, the number of infected had crossed two crores on May 4 last year and three crores on June 23 and on January 25 this year, the cases of infection had crossed four crores. Not only this, four people died due to infection in 24 hours and one death each was reported from Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Maharashtra and Nagaland.
