Coronavirus wreaks havoc in Assam; death toll reaches 1,017

Corona is wreaking havoc in the northeastern states, Five more positive patients have died due to corona on Sunday in Assam, taking the state’s death toll to 1,017.

Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the information on Twitter. He wrote,"Sad to share the demise of 5 #COVID patients~ Late Ghonakanta Dutta (66) of Golaghat; Late Anadi Kumar Roy (82) & Late Usha Dutta (74) of Cachar; Late Saradindu Roy Choudhury (74) of Sonitpur; Late Mahamad Ali (62) of Nagaon. Condolences & Prayers."Health minister Sarma informed that two of the deceased are from Cachar district, one each deceased is from Sonitpur and Golaghat districts.

Till Saturday, Assam’s Covid19 death toll stood at 1,012 while the state tally increased to 2,15,346 after the detection of 96 new cases. Assam’s positivity rate in the state was 0.48% on Saturday.The percentage of recovered patients in Assam was 97.89%. Talking about India has recorded 1,00,55,560 (over 1 crore) confirmed COVID- 19 cases, including 1,45,810 deaths.
