High profile divorce of Indrani and Peter Mukherjee in jail, court gives approval

New Delhi: Indrani Mukherjee and Peter Mukherjee, imprisoned in a jail in the Sheena Bora murder case, have given divorce to each other. On Thursday, the Mumbai family court approved the divorce of Indrani Mukherjee and Peter. Both got divorced by mutual consent. In January 2017, Indrani Mukherjee announced her divorce from Peter Mukherjee.

After this, Indrani Mukherjee issued a legal notice to Peter Mukherjee in April. Then in September 2018, both of them agreed to divorce before the court. For this, both reached the court in the police van. Indrani Mukherjee and Peter Mukherjee are accused in the Sheena Bora murder case and have been imprisoned since 2015. Both are kept in a different jail. Currently, a trial is going on against both of them in the Sheena Bora murder case. The family court of Mumbai had given time for reconciliation to both, as well as hearing the case after 6 months.

When reconciliation could not be reached between the two, the court divorced the two with mutual consent. Thus, both of them got divorced after one year of filing the divorce application in the court. In Family Court, advocate Sushmita Nair advocated Peter Mukherjee. Nair said that Peter Mukherjee had become very ill in the meantime, due to which the divorce process has been delayed. After Peter Mukherjee recuperated, his approval was taken and the divorce process was done.
