Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh CM and former Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh has got bail from the special CBI court in the Babri Masjid demolition case. Kalyan Singh has been granted bail on a personal bond of Rs 2 lakh. The court has framed charges against Kalyan Singh in various sections including 153A, 153B of IPC.

Recently, the lawyers filed a surrender application in the court on behalf of Kalyan Singh, who joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Also, a bail application was also filed on behalf of Kalyan Singh. The lawyers had filed a bail application citing his ill health. Apart from Kalyan Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani, veteran BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi, former CM Uma Bharti, Sadhvi Ritambhara and Mahant Nrityagopal Das are also accused in the case, who have been granted bail by the court.

Earlier the court had asked the CBI to present evidence against Kalyan Singh, which the CBI had failed to produce. The CBI had to produce evidence in the court that Kalyan Singh is not currently holding any constitutional post, so legal action can be taken against him. The court then sent a notice to Kalyan Singh to appear in court.
