New Delhi: Hearing has started in the Avenue Court of Delhi in the criminal defamation case filed against former Union Minister MJ Akbar in the MeToo case. The statement of journalist Priya Ramani is being recorded in the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal. Journalist Priya Ramani gave her statement in court.

In her statement, Priya Ramani said that "I have told the truth. When I disclosed my experience. My first job interview and my tweets in 'Vogue' magazine. It was important for women to describe sexual harassment in the workplace. Many of us believe that this matter could have been kept silent. By remaining silent, I could have avoided these later disputes, but it is not appropriate to do so. In all my disclosures, I have told the truth in public interest and the public good".

She further said that "I hoped that the revelations in the MeToo case would empower women to speak up and better understand their rights at the workplace. This case was against a big man for me. I have nothing to gain from this. I am a respected journalist. I live in peace with my family in Bangalore. It is not easy for any woman to make such disclosures".
