Covid Roundup: India logs 10,302 cases, over 11K recoveries

New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 10,302 new cases of the novel coronavirus, as well as 267 deaths from the infection. According to data released on Saturday by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 11,787 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to around 98.28 percent, the highest since March 2020, and total recoveries data to 3,39,09,708. The number of current COVID-19 cases in India has dropped to 1,24,868 (the lowest in 531 days), according to government data released today.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that 63,05,75,279 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of November 19. On Friday, 10,72,863 of these samples were examined.

So far, the Nationwide Vaccination Drive has administered more than 115.79 crore vaccine doses.  The country's total death toll today stands at 4,65,349. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020. According to data published by the Ministry of Health, active cases account for less than 1 percent of total cases, with 0.36 percent being the lowest since March 2020.

Meanwhile, Kerala reported 5,754 new COVID-19 cases and 49 deaths on Friday, bringing the total number of people afflicted in the state to 50,89,849 and the death toll to 37,051.
