NEW DELHI: India has reported 25,920 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a 16 percent decrease, according to the Union Health Ministry. During the same time period, 492 more deaths were reported, bringing the total death toll to 5,10,905.

Meanwhile, the number of active Covid cases has dropped to 2,92,092, representing for 0.68 percent of all positive cases in the country.  The recovery of 66,254 patients in the last 24 hours has brought the total number of patients recovered to 4,19,77,238. As a result, India's recovery rate is now at 98.12%, according to the Ministry.

A total of 12,54,893 tests were conducted across the country within the same time period, bringing the total to 75.68 crore. The weekly positivity rate is now 2.76 percent, while the daily positivity rate has risen to 2.07 percent.

As of Friday morning, India's Covid inoculation coverage has reached 174.64 crore, with over 37.86 million vaccine doses administered in the previous 24 hours. This was accomplished by a total of 1,97,37,397 sessions. The governments and UTs still have more than 11.41 crore in balance and unused Covid vaccination doses.
