NEW DELHI: India witneassed a slight drop infections as the country reported 2,995 new Covid infections,  as per the data from the Ministry of Health. This slight drop comes a day after it reported 3,095 cases on March 31. 

Now, the  active cases in India has crossed 16,000-mark with active caseloads now stands at 16,354. With the fresh infections, country's COVID-19 tally stands at 4,47,18,781. The death toll climbed to 5,30,876 with 9 deaths, the data updated at 8 am read.

Gujarat reported one death, Delhi two, Punjab two, Karnataka two, and Kerala two, all of which were confirmed. According to the health ministry website, the country's COVID-19 recovery rate is currently 98.77 percent.

The weekly positivity rate was 2.03 percent, while the daily positivity rate was 2.09 percent. 4,41,71,551 persons have recovered from the illness, a significant increase. The rate of case fatalities is 1.19 percent.
