NEW DELHI: India reported 4,194 new Covid cases and 255 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Union health ministry. With the latest death toll, the country's death toll now stands at 5,15,714 people.

According to the ministry data, the current Covid case has been lowered to 42,219, accounting for 0.10 percent of the country's total positive cases. The recovery of 6,208 patients in the last 24 hours has brought the total number of patients recovered to 4,24,26,328. As a result, India's recovery rate is now at 98.70 percent, the Union Health Ministry said. A total of 8,12,365 tests were done across the country during the same time period. In total, India has conducted approximately 77.68 crore tests.

In the meantime, the weekly positivity rate has dropped to 0.55 percent, but the daily positivity rate has climbed to 0.52 percent. As of Friday morning, India's vacciantion coverage had reached 179.72 crore, thanks to the administration of around 16.73 lakh Covid vaccine doses in the last 24 hours. This was accomplished by a total of 2,09,78,959 sessions. According to the health ministry, as of Friday morning, more than 16.70 crore balance and unused Covid vaccination pills were still available with the states and union territories to be administered.
