New Delhi:Â India recorded 7,533 new Covid-19 cases and 11,047 recoveries in the last 24 hours , bringing the total number of active cases to 53,852 as of Friday. Active cases stand at 0.12%of the total cases reported in the country, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said.
With 11,047 recoveries on the previous day, India's overall recovery jumped to 4,43,47,024 and is now at 98.68%. 3.62 percent is added to the daily positivity rate. The ministry reported that 2,08,112 tests had been performed in the previous 24 hours, for a total of 92.63 crore tests to far.
India has so far provided 220.66 crore doses of the Covid vaccine as part of the countrywide Vaccination Drive (95.21 crore second dose and 22.87 crore precaution dosage), of which 4,775 doses were given in the previous day.
Dr. PK Mishra, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, presided over a high-level meeting earlier on April 20 to examine the situation following the rise of COVID-19 cases across the nation.
