Odisha: From November 3, the next of kin of people who died in Odisha as a result of Covid-19 can apply to the government for an ex-gratia of Rs 50,000, according to an official.

The victim's kin can apply to the District Collectors for ex-gratia, according to Bijay Mohapatra, Director of Health Services. They can apply using a prescribed application form and submit proof of Covid-19 death, documents to establish relationship with the deceased, and bank account details both offline (physically or by post) and online (https://caps.odisha.gov.in) using a prescribed application form and submit proof of Covid-19 death, documents to establish relationship with the deceased, and bank account details. "Anyone who has a disagreement with the cause of death listed on the death certificate can approach the district grievance redressal committee, which will examine the deceased patient's medical records and make a decision within 30 days," he said. According to Mohapatra, the state government is following the Supreme Court's instructions and taking steps in accordance with the order.

In this regard, Special Relief Commissioner PK Jena has written to all collectors, municipal commissioners, and CDMOs. CAPS is a piece of software developed by the state's information technology department (Covid-19 ex-gratia Assistance Payment System). The ex-gratia will be approved, sanctioned, and disbursed by the collector, and payment will be made directly to the beneficiary via DBT within 30 days.
