Govt plans to deliver medical drones for easy vaccination

New Delhi: The Central Government is now going to resort to technology to get rid of corona and speed up vaccination. The Central Government has come up with a new strategy to deliver corona vaccine through aerial vehicles means drones in difficult and remote areas of the country for which tenders have been issued to interested companies which have been asked to submit by June 22. Research conducted by IIT Kanpur says that the vaccine can be supplied through drones.

At present, government companies are HLL lifecare to buy corona vaccines for the government in the country. Its subsidiary HLL Infra Tech Services Limited has sought bids from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on June 11 for delivery of corona vaccine in difficult areas of the country. Till now, only Telangana was working on a plan to supply corona vaccine through drones.

The ICMR has participated with IIT-Kanpur for the same project. The matter is being looked after ICMR. ICMR has developed a standard protocol for successful supply of vaccines through drones, as well as a model of drones used to deliver vaccines to difficult areas. ICMR has demanded drones that can travel up to 35 km with a load of at least 4 kg and fly at an altitude of at least 100 metres.
