New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, India has seen 2,82,970 new cases of the novel coronavirus, with 441 deaths as a result of the infection. According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Wednesday (January 19), the country experienced 1,88,157 discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to roughly 93.88 percent and total recoveries to 3,55,83,039.

According to government data released today, the overall number of current COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 18,31,000 people.The country's total death toll today stands at 4,87,202. The first death from the COVID epidemic was recorded in India in March 2020.

On Wednesday, the total number of Omicron cases reached 8,961. Today's daily positivity rate is 15.13 percent. The overall number of new COVID cases is up 44,889 today compared to yesterday (January 18). On Tuesday, India reported 2,38,018 cases.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that 70,74,21,650 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of January 18. On Tuesday, 18,69,642 of these samples were examined.
