New Delhi: In the last 24 hours, India has recorded 1,49,394 new cases of the novel coronavirus, and also 1,072 deaths from the infection. According to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Friday (February 4), the country saw a total of 2,46,674 discharges in the previous 24 hours, bringing the total recovery rate to 95.14 percent and total recoveries to 4,00,17,088.

The country's total death toll presently stands at 5,00,055. The first death from the COVID outbreak was recorded in India in March 2020. Today's daily positivity rate is 9.27 percent.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) reports that 73,58,04,280 samples have been tested for COVID-19 as of February 3rd. On Thursday, 16,11,666 of these samples were analysed.

According to data given by the municipal health department, Delhi saw 2,668 new Covid-19 cases and 13 deaths on Thursday, with the positive rate dropping to 4.3 percent. The national capital recorded 3,028 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday.  According to data from the city's health department, the number of COVID-19 tests done a day ago was 61,992.

After reaching a record high of 28,867 daily cases on January 13, the number of daily cases in Delhi has been declining. On January 14, the city reported a positive rate of 30.6 percent, the highest during the pandemic's current wave. It only took ten days for daily cases to fall below 10,000.
