Bhubaneswar: The government of Odisha has stated that schools and colleges in the state will reopen on February 7.

"The State administration has decided to reopen schools and colleges after analysing the present COVID-19 scenario and the loss of learning faced by students," said Suresh Chandra Mahapatra, Chief Secretary, on Thursday.

Physical lessons for children in grades 8 through 12 and colleges, universities, other technical and professional education institutions will begin on February 7," Mahapatra said. "Physical classes for students from kindergarten to class seven, on the other hand, will begin on February 14," he added.

The state government has also given the institutions permission to open their hostels using government-issued COVID guidelines. Students will be able to learn between physical classes, online classes, and a hybrid method of education during the current academic term, according to Mohapatra. "The Class 10 and 12 Board Examinations will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines of the appropriate Board and Council," he added.

"Hospitalization in this third wave owing to the Omicron variant is lower than in the second wave, and the daily positive rate has also decreased, indicating that the situation is stabilising." "We vaccinated a huge number of children between the ages of 15 and 18," the Chief Secretary remarked. "The physical classes will be done in strict accordance with COVID-19 procedures, and all education-related departments have been instructed to submit thorough SOPs for reopening their departments' educational institutions," he stated.
