Covid-19: Kerala may witness 4.6 Lakh Cases From Aug 1-20: Central team reports

The Southern state of Kerala is expected to record 4.62 lakh covid cases between August 1 to August 20. The information was noted by a 6-member central panel that visited 8 districts of Kerla amid rising rates of infection.

The current Rt value of Kerala is 1.12. Going by the current trend, it is expected that for the period of August first to August 20, Kerala may witness around 4.62 lakh Covid cases,” National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) Director Dr Sujeet Singh said.

Addressing a press conference, NCDC Director called unlocking of activities, approaching of the Onam festival that falls on August 20,  and reopening of tourism as challenging scenarios and causes of concern. According to data, Kerala accounted for more than half of the COVID-19 cases recorded in the country in the last seven days.
