Imphal: The Lilong police of Manipur have arrested three youths Abdul Rashid, Najbul Hussain and Mohammad Arif Khan on charges of cow slaughter. This gruesome video of the cow being cut in public is now going viral on social media. In it, some youths are seen cutting the cow on the flag of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). After the video went viral, the accused have been booked and arrested under various sections of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960.

 

  
Let us know that assembly elections are going to be held in Manipur, it is being told that this gruesome incident has been carried out after the BJP denied ticket to the candidate whom the accused were supporting. The video of the killing of the cow, which is going viral on social media, is 29 seconds long. In it, a group of 10 youths (perhaps Muslims) can be seen slitting the cow's throat on the BJP flag. In the video, the mob is also hurling abuses at Manipur CM N Biren Singh and BJP Manipur unit president AdhikariMayum Sarda Devi.

It is also alleged that the video was posted on social media as part of an attempt to incite discord and enmity between communities. Officials of Lilong police in Imphal West district confirmed the incident. He said this could have disturbed law and order in the area and disrupted communal harmony between different religious groups. Taking suo motu cognizance of the incident, the police have registered a case under SECTIONS 153A, 429, 504 of IPC and Section 11(1) of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 under FIR No. 10(01)2022 at Lilong Police Station. Police have registered a case against Mohammed Abdul Rashid (28), Najbul Hussain (38) and Mohammad Arif Khan (31).
