Politics has been hot on the meeting of the Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Kolkata on Sunday in the Modi government. Other opposition parties, including the Trinamool, are attacking him for instigating communal sentiment and shouting 'Goli Maro...' slogans by BJP workers during the rally. On the other hand, members of the CPI (M) and the Congress-affiliated student organization have purified the Shaheed Minar Maidan in Kolkata from Ganga Jal where Amit Shah held a rally.

Regarding this rally, the team of students claimed that the historic Shaheed Minar Maidan of Kolkata was corrupted due to inflammatory slogans like 'Goli Maro...' by the BJP workers during the rally, so purified this ground. He claimed that on the very next day of the rally, on Monday, the Left's student organization SFI and the student wing of the Congress, the Student Council, washed the platform of the martyr tower from Gangajal and took an oath not to let the communal forces spoil the harmony of the state. An SFI leader said that we used water and soap for purification whereas our friends of Congress Students Council used Ganga water.

On this occasion, Congress student leader Shubhankar Sarkar while talking to journalists said that we have jointly purified the ground together with SFI. He said that this historic ground has been witness to many political events in the past, but never before has such communal sayings and slogans like 'Goli Maro...' been heard. Banerjee also attacked the central home minister, Amit Shah. In this rally, Amit Shah, while referring to the Lok Sabha election results, claimed that the next government in Bengal will be formed by the BJP.
