New Delhi: Former MP and Bahubali Ateeq Ahmed has received a big blow from the top court. The court has refused to reconsider the decision to shift Ateeq from Deoria jail to a high-security prison in Gujarat. The apex court said that there is no need to hear Ateeq's side for the verdict. His lawyer Sanjay Hegde said that Ateeq was not heard before the transfer order.

The top court had in April 2019 issued orders for the jail transfer of the former MP. This decision came when Ateeq kidnapped a businessman and forced him to do his company in the name of Ateeq. He had summoned Deoria Jail by kidnapping Lucknow real estate businessman Mohit Jaiswal through Gurgo on December 26.

After somehow getting rid of his clutches, Mohit reached Lucknow and registered a case, then the Deoria police got into action. On Mohit's appeal, the court took cognizance of the case and directed the CBI to investigate.
