Kolkata: A video shared by CPI(M) leader Mohammed Salim has sparked outrage on social media. The footage shows a local Bahubali leader assaulting a married woman and a man lying helplessly on the road under the guise of ‘summary justice.’ Salim alleged that the main accused, identified as a local TMC goon with the nickname ‘JCB,’ is running a Kangaroo court and administering Taliban-style justice.

In the disturbing video, the accused is seen violently manhandling a woman and a man. He throws them to the ground, beating them with cane sticks and kicking the woman multiple times. Despite the woman's screams and visible pain, a large crowd of onlookers does not intervene. Notably, a police vehicle is visible in the video, mere meters from where the assault takes place. The green jeep, which appears to be a police patrolling vehicle, stops at the scene, but no officers emerge to assist the victims.

The incident reportedly occurred in Chopra’s Lakshmipur village in the Dighalgaon area. The accused, Tajemul, known locally as JCB, allegedly attacked the victims over allegations of an extramarital affair. Media reports suggest that JCB runs a 'quick justice' system through his ‘Insaf Sabha,’ closely associated with Chopra MLA Hamidur Rahaman. During an arbitration meeting over the affair allegations, JCB brutally assaulted the victims as part of his so-called ‘summary justice.’

Local sources identify the female victim as a married resident of the village, allegedly involved in an extramarital affair with the young man seen in the video. Following the affair's discovery, JCB called an "arbitration meeting" where he assaulted them. Reports indicate the victims were also fined, and no one took them to the hospital after the assault. The person who filmed the incident is reportedly in hiding due to security concerns. Social media claims suggest a case has been filed against him.

Such "Insaf Sabha" meetings are said to be regular occurrences in the area, with local residents too frightened to report these assaults to the police or media due to JCB's terror. The young woman did not visit the government health center after the brutal assault, which took place on June 28th. BJP's social media head, Amit Malviya, criticized the Trinamool Congress over the incident. He called on the National Commission for Women (NCW) to take action, condemning the state of law and order under Mamata Banerjee's rule in West Bengal. Malviya compared the incident to the Sandeshkhali horror, where numerous women reported mass sexual exploitation and land grabbing, asserting that such atrocities are happening in every village under TMC governance.

Malviya stated, "India must wake up to the reality of Sharia Courts in TMC-run West Bengal. There is a #Sandeshkhali in every village, and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is a curse for women. There is no semblance of law and order in Bengal. Will Mamata Banerjee act against this monster or defend him like she stood up for Sheikh Shahjahan?"
