New Delhi: CPIM leader Sitaram Yechury has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was expected to present a roadmap in his address today on how to deal with the situation caused by the coronavirus. In particular, people whose livelihood has been put at risk due to this epidemic. But he did not present any such roadmap. Sitaram Yechury said that his party wants to give some suggestions to the Modi government at the Center.
Yechury said that PM Modi had also said last time and today also said that people's jobs should not be taken away, not laid off. But the reality is that thousands of people have already been retrenched. The example of the whole world is that the government has taken the responsibility that neither the job of the people be lost nor their salary be deducted. In India too, the government should make this arrangement.
He further said that along with this, the livelihood of the people doing farming is also in crisis. It is the harvesting season and the government should make arrangements to ensure that the farmers purchase the crops on time and at a reasonable price. Along with this, care must also be taken of the wages of farm laborers. The government should pay farmworkers their salaries.
