Ayodhya: In anticipation of the grand consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22, people from various parts of the country are sending special gifts. Among these offerings is a unique contribution from a Muslim man who sent holy water from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to be used in the 'Pran Pratishtha' of the Ram Temple.

Tanveer Ahmed, the individual behind this gesture, collected the holy water from the Sharda Peeth Kund in PoK. Due to the suspended postal services between India and Pakistan since the Balakote airstrikes following the 2019 Pulwama terrorist attack, the water took a circuitous route via the United Kingdom.

Ravinder Pandita, the founder of Save Sharda Committee Kashmir (SSCK), explained that the water was sent through a chain of carriers. Tanveer Ahmed's daughter, Maghribi, received the holy water in the UK and later handed it over to Sonal Sher, a Kashmiri Pandit activist, during her visit to Ahmedabad in India in August 2023. The water then reached Delhi through this route.

Pandita highlighted the temporary suspension of postal services between India and Pakistan, leading to the decision to route the holy water through Europe before bringing it to India. The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) leaders received the holy water from SSCK member Manjunath Sharma, and it was ultimately presented to senior functionary Koteshwar Rao in Ayodhya on Saturday.

As Ayodhya gears up for the consecration ceremony, the town is adorned with flower bouquets and special lights, setting the stage for the much-awaited event. Scheduled to commence at 12:30 pm on January 22, the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony will witness the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thousands of seers from across the country. Led by priest Lakshmikant Dixit, a group of priests will perform the main rituals during this significant occasion.
