CS assault case: Delhi Court discharges Kejriwal, Sisodia and 9 other AAP MLAs

The High court of Delhi court today (August 11)  discharged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and 9 other Aam Aadmi Party MLAs in a case related to the alleged assault on the then chief secretary Anshu Prakash in 2018.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sachin Gupta ordered framing of charges against two Aam Aadmi Party MLAs namely Amantullah and Prakash Jarwal, in the case.

The criminal case pertains to the alleged assault on Prakash during a meeting at Kejriwal's official residence on February 19, 2018, and besides the chief minister and his deputy, 11 AAP MLAs were also made accused in the case. Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and nine other AAP MLAs were granted bail in October 2018. Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal were granted bail earlier by the high court. The alleged assault had triggered a bitter mêlée between the Delhi government and its bureaucrats.

The Delhi Police had on May 18 questioned Kejriwal for over 3 hours in connection with the case, alleging that he was present when the alleged assault took place. Two of the party MLAs -- Amanatullah Khan and Prakash Jarwal -- were also arrested.    The alleged assault had triggered a bitter tussle between the Delhi government and its bureaucrats
