Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar held a meeting with dis-coms, municipal and panchayat raj officials, also known as the civic bodies, to think over the issues pertaining to the payment of electricity bills following the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. The CS has directed that all the gram panchayats and municipalities should pay the power bills monthly basis. Any deviations or errors in payment of bills will be taken seriously and grave actions would be taken on ones who neglect it. Arrears will be separated and a decision on payment for the same will be taken later.
He asked the bodies to prepare a detailed report on the areas targeted within seven days after duly reconciling the figures with the gram panchayats and municipalities along with different civic bodies. Detailed reports and options regarding errors would be presented shortly before the Chief Minister to take policy decisions on problems and mistakes related to local bodies.
A Joint and co-ordinating team of dis-coms, gram panchayats, and municipality along with other civic body officials should be constituted and put into an amendment to resolve discrepancies and flaws in bills relating to non-functioning borewells, he said. The Chief Secretary further directed that the bills should be generated based on meter readings only and there should be proper supporting evidence for the same. Meters should be fixed wherever it has not been done within one month, he concluded.
