Lawrence “Larry” Walsh Jr., a longtime state senator who served as Will County executive for 16 years has passes away at his Elwood home due to complications of prostate cancer. He was 72 years old. Walsh started his political life in 1970. When he was 21 years old. At a very young age, he was elected a member of the Elwood School Board. Three years later in 1973, he was elected as Jackson Township Supervisor. Also, Walsh served on the Will County Board in 1974 and again in 1992, and represented the 43rd District from April 1997 to January 2005 as Illinois State Senator.
