In March of last year, the UGC declared that all central universities would conduct undergraduate admissions through a common entrance test rather than using class 12 grades. By the end of July, universities will have finished the undergraduate (UG) admissions procedure, and the new academic session can start on August 1.
13 languages, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu, will be used to conduct the CUET (UG) - 2023 exam.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) had to cancel the exam at several centres during the first administration of the CUET-UG, which took place in July of last year. While some students were advised of the cancellation the night before the exam, many of them learned of it once they arrived at the testing locations.

According to officials, the Common University Entrance Exam (CUET) has been chosen by at least 168 universities to far for use in the undergraduate admissions process. These 168 universities include 31 state universities and 44 central universities, including Cotton University in Guwahati, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar School of Economics in Karnataka, and Barkatullah University in Bhopal. Only 90 universities approved CUET for UG programme admissions last year. This year, more institutions are anticipated to choose the test for admission.

After several current varsity students' admissions that they did not know the language they chose for admission through CUET UG 2023, the Delhi University (DU) on Friday recommended aspirants look through the syllabi of all programmes before choosing their preferences.

The university warned applicants seeking admission to DU colleges that during the previous academic session, some applicants chose programmes just to get admission to a particular college, even though they lacked the prerequisite skills or expertise for pursuing the programme and field of study. The warning follows several BA students who admitted they did not know the language they had selected. Also, they have requested permission to switch subjects in a number of letters to the institution.
