New Delhi: Turkmenistan was about to take off at IGI Airport when 88 people were stopped by the Customs Department at IGI Airport. During the investigation, US dollars worth more than five and a half crore rupees were recovered from him.

When the investigation was carried out after de-boarding, it was found that 48 of the 88 people detained had foreign currency as per the prescribed limit. After which 48 people were released. 31 people were released after penalty. At the same time, 9 people were arrested. US dollars worth more than Rs 3.83 crore seized from him were seized.

Giving information, Custom Commissioner of IGI Airport Manish Kumar said that the incident took place on 18 December. Flight number T5-532 at the airport terminal-3 which was about to take off for Turkmenistan. Following a notice, 88 passengers on board the flight were intercepted. During the investigation, it was found that 88 of the 88 passengers taken into custody were recovered from the US $ limit. After which those 48 passengers were released, while 31 passengers were fined and 9 were arrested.
