New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has recently informed that a cyclonic storm named Gulab is likely to hit the coastal areas of southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh this Sunday evening. As per the information received, the intensity of the storm has increased and due to this orange alert has been sounded updating with a yellow alert. Recently, senior Indian Meteorological Department scientist UmaShankar Das said, "A warning has been issued for Andhra Pradesh and Odisha under the Cyclone.''

It is also estimated that 'Storm Gulab will make landfall near Kalingapatnam on the coastal areas of south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh on Sunday evening. The wind is likely to blow at a speed of 70-80 kmph.' On the other hand, yellow alerts issued in coastal areas have been upgraded and now it has been put on orange alert. Tell all of you that orange alert issues warning for moderate to heavy rain, while yellow alert has been issued for light to moderate rain.

Let me also tell you that at 5.30 p.m. last Saturday, the cyclone was centred about 370 km east-southeast of Gopalpur from the North-West and West-Central Bay of Bengal. It is said that cyclone Gulab may also bring heavy rain in West Bengal. Heavy rain is expected from Tuesday in East Midnapore along with Kolkata, Howrah, South and North 24 Parganas. Odisha is likely to receive heavy rain in several districts with light rain on September 25 and September 28.
