The speed of Cyclone Moka is increasing with each passing day. According to the Meteorological Department, today (Saturday) i.e. on May 6 at 8.30 pm, a cyclone will form in the southeast Bay of Bengal. In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for the next five days. As per the IMD forecast, a cyclone will form over southeast Bay of Bengal from today evening. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over the same region by morning of May 8. This system will develop into a deep depression and move towards central Bay of Bengal. A deep depression will develop into a cyclonic storm over central Bay of Bengal on 9th May.
In view of this, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert. According to the Meteorological Department, from May 8 to May 12, the areas around the Bay of Bengal will see moderate rainfall at most places. On the other hand, there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall in the coastal and border areas from 8 to 11 May. In addition, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 10th May. Whereas, wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely over southeast Bay of Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands and adjoining areas of Andaman Sea from 7th.
The wind speed will increase gradually becoming 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph on 9th May. Fishermen, small vessels, boatmen and trawlers have been advised not to venture into southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of Andaman Sea after May 7 and southeast and adjoining areas of central Bay of Bengal from May 9. Do not go into Those who are in southeast Bay of Bengal have been advised to return to safer places before May 7.
