New Delhi: Cyclone Tauktae is likely to move north-east wards and gradually weaken to a low pressure area during the next 12 hours. The India Meteorological Department has informed about this. The National Meteorological Department of India (IMD) national meteorological centre said that the remains of the system are expected to move north-east from all over Rajasthan to west Uttar Pradesh during the next two days.

According to the Meteorological Department, the deep pressure (remnants of cyclone Toukte) over Gujarat region moved north-east at a speed of about 7 kmph during the last six hours. The storm has slowed down and centered near latitude 24.3 degrees North at 5.30am on Wednesday. The 73.3 degree east longitude in south Rajasthan and adjoining Gujarat region was concentrated about 60 km west-southwest of Udaipur (Rajasthan) and 110 km east-north-east of Disa (Gujarat region).

The Met department said heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places with light to moderate rainfall at most places in eastern Rajasthan on Wednesday. The interaction of residue low pressure system with a trough in westerly disturbance related westerly winds is expected to bring heavy to very heavy and light to moderate rainfall at most places in Uttarakhand. Scattered rain is likely to occur over Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh and heavy rain at various places over Punjab, Eastern Uttar Pradesh, North Madhya Pradesh and Western Rajasthan during the next 24 hours.
